How to enable disk use on iPod Touch?

Seems like Apple removed that option. A friend purchased a new MacBook and can't get his music from his iPod on to that MacBook...

The only way is through a program called Touch Copy, they can do it but they have to charge. iPodDisk, Senuti and other programs failed.

That last resort as Engadget puts it is through "extraneous text". As seen here
